ProSpeaking practice
Employer Contributions to Nearby Childcare
You work at the Filorive Textiles factory in Aubrelac, a town in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. During a staff meeting, your manager, Maëlle Gervais, asks for your views on a proposal requiring large employers to help fund childcare centres near their workplaces. These contributions would help cover the centres’ operating costs. Nearby childcare could make daily routines easier for working parents, but required contributions would add to employers’ expenses and might not help families who prefer care closer to home.
