Hearing a Familiar Voice Again
You and your uncle Gareth visited Second Listen Audio Repairs in Thistlemere, southwestern Ontario, with an old family cassette that would not play. Using a cassette player at the shop’s listening counter, you helped him get the recording playing again. You heard your grandmother’s voice, which you thought your family no longer had on any recording. Draw on a personal memory or tell this story as though it happened to you. You have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak.

What this set practises
- Does the story move clearly from wanting to hear the cassette through getting it playing to the reactions afterwards?
- Do everyday words describe the recording, your actions, and your feelings precisely?
- Are the events easy to follow, with clear speech, a steady pace, and natural pauses?
- Does the response describe one past experience involving a relative, an old cassette, a recovered voice, and a personal reflection within 60 seconds?
