A School Photo Posted Without Permission

Your child attends Sundial Elementary School in Wrenford, a suburban community in Alberta. At the start of the year, you submitted a form refusing permission for your child's photograph to be shared publicly. Yesterday, the school posted a group photo from a class gardening afternoon on its public website. Your child is clearly visible at one end of the group. The principal, Farah Qureshi, wants to keep the gardening update online to celebrate the students' work. You have arranged to speak with her about removing your child's image and making sure this does not happen again.

What this set practises

  • Does your response connect the written refusal, the public photo, your chosen solution, and a clear follow-up request?
  • Do you use clear, appropriate language to discuss permission, privacy, and removing the image?
  • Is your speech easy to follow, with a steady pace and brief pauses between the concern and your requests?
  • Do you address the principal tactfully, choose one course of action, and request both removal of your child's image and steps to prevent a recurrence?
