Helping a Child Feel Included at Recess
Your cousin Renée lives in Elkmead, a suburban community in Alberta. Her eight-year-old son, Hugo, attends Mossquill Elementary School. Several times over the past two weeks, classmates have told him he cannot join their playground games at recess, although they let other children join. He now worries about recess before leaving for school. Renée wants to help, but Hugo is afraid that talking to his teacher will make things worse. She asks you how to support him and approach the school.
